The Gamers Dictionary

In reading this blog there are some terms I might use that are unfamiliar to most people, in particular when I reference World of Warcraft. So I thought it would be a good idea to post what some of these terms mean to give some clarification to my posts. I will edit this post with updates if I forget a few terms.

WOW: This is short for World of Warcraft
MT: Main Tank; this is the person in a party or raid responisble for taking damage from mobs.
OT: Off tank; This person is responsible for taking on adds that the MT is not capable of dealing with.
Mob: These are creatures in the game that are hostile to players chracters and their allys.Usualy these are monsters.
Add: These are extra mobs that agro when a boss is pulled
Agro: the way a computer controlled enemy unit decides to attack usualy is by the amount of threat a target is generating. The person with the most threat is the person the mob is considered to have agro.
PC: Players Character
NPC: Non Player Character
Healer: these are the healing classes. Their role is to keep the party or raid alive.
Party: a group of 2 to 5 people that come together to take on challenges in the game that they cannot do on their own
Raid: a group from 2 to 40 people comprised of up to 8 parties of 5 that take on challenges that party's cannot handle
DPS: Damage per second; classes whose primary role in a party or raid is to deal damage.
Gank: seeking out enemy players and killing them, usualy this implies that the person doing the killing has much greater level or gear than the player being killed.
